It’s rare that you see Fair Isle gloves with consistent and continuous patterning carrying up through all of the fingers. When you do, you usually see one of two things: Either the fingers are all the same width (unlike human hands) making for an awkward fit, or the patterning is not centered on each finger, making for an awkward look. (No wonder most Fair Isle gloves are just patterned on the cuffs and palms!) As you can hopefully see in these photos, these gloves provide an excellent fit for an average adult female’s hands, all while the patterning is centered on each finger…on each side! And, they’re switchable!! I don’t mind telling you, it took me quite a while to figure these out. Eventually, I achieved this rare, continuous patterning + excellent fit through very careful placement of the stitches between the fingers which, as you’ll see, are themselves decorated with stripes…consistently. (I’m such a hopeless knitting nerd!) If you, too, find delight in the careful placement of every. single. stitch…these are the gloves for you!

GAUGE: 36 sts and 38 rows = 4” / 10cm

NEEDLES: US #1 / 2.5mm, although anything from size #0 US / 2.25mm to #2 US / 2.75mm may be used. Everyone’s tension and hand size will vary, so use whatever needle size gives YOUR correct gauge &/or glove size.

YARN: Five 25g balls of Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift fingering weight 100% Shetland wool: two balls in the background color and one ball in each of the three accent colors.
