Sonoran Star Hat and Mitten Set knitting pattern PDF

$8.00

Overview: This is a circularly-knit, DK weight, two-color hat and mitten set with corrugated ribbed bands at the bottom and “allover” Fair Isle-style stranded knitting motifs above. The motifs fit together well, all the way to the top, so the pompom is optional. It is sized to fit the average adult. If knit to the given gauge, the finished hat circumference is 19 1/4” / 49 cm and the mittens’ finished palm circumference is 8 3/8”/ 21 cm.

Yarn: Jamieson’s of Shetland Double Knitting 100% Shetland wool yarn, 82 yds / 75 m per 25g ball. You will need three 25g balls of a dark color (A) and three 25g balls of a light color (B) to knit one pair of mittens plus one hat with a pompom. Jamieson’s DK yarn packs are available here.

Needle suggestions: For looser knitters, use US #4 / 3.5mm and US #5 / 3.75mm; for tighter knitters, use US #5 / 3.75mm and US #6 / 4.0mm.

There is a free YouTube video tutorial of Mary Ann knitting this design and catching long floats along the way!
