Knitting pattern for a ladies’ Fair Isle style vest / slipover in five sizes using twelve colors (19 x 25g balls in all) of fingering / jumper weight Shetland wool yarn, circularly knit in traditional Fair Isle style using steeks without any reinforcement. Sizes = S (M, L, XL, XXL) = finished chest circumference = 32 (36, 40, 44, 48)” / 81 (91, 102, 112, 122) cm. In addition to the colorized main chart, which includes line-by-line color references, the pattern has a colorized layout for each size, showing you exactly how the colors line up with the decreases for each size. This steeking method demands that you use 100% traditional wool yarn. Superwash wools and non-wool yarns are not suitable for this design. I highly recommend Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift 100% Shetland wool yarn for this project. Yarn packs using the colors shown are available here.

ERRATA: The columns to the left of the Chart have always correctly shown Row 28 is to be worked in “Blossom” (pale pink) and “Loganberry” (dark purple); however, one stitch (Column 4 of Row 28) was originally charted as white (blank) instead of pale pink. Given what we know from the side columns, that pesky white stitch had absolutely no business being there on that Row! Thankfully, a dear, eagle-eyed customer brought this to my attention on April 7, 2023 and it was promptly corrected. If you purchased your pattern here and you’d like the update, send me a message through the “Contact” tab at the top right of the page and I’ll resend your download link. If you purchased your pattern through Ravelry, I’ve updated it there, too. As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to write to me through either site. Happy knitting!
