Good Dog Hat Knitting Pattern PDF
Fair Isle style knitting design for hats to be knit in both Adult and Toddler sizes. Noses are 100% boopable ;) and are embroidered on, once the knitting has been completed. The Adult size uses Aran weight yarn (Jamieson’s “Shetland Heather” shown); the Toddler size uses DK weight yarn (Jamieson’s “Double Knitting” shown.)
PDF has instructions and charts for both the knitting and the embroidery. Hats’ finished circumferences for the Toddler (Adult) sizes are 16 (21¼)” / 41 (54) cm. Suitable for intermediate knitters familiar with Fair Isle knitting and working from charts.
TODDLER SIZE GAUGE: 24 sts and 29 rows = 4” / 10cm in stranded stockinette stitch with larger needles.
ADULT SIZE GAUGE: 18 sts and 22 rows = 4” / 10cm in stranded stockinette stitch with larger needles.
TODDLER SIZE NEEDLES: If you knit loosely, try US size 5 / 3.75mm for the Main section; if you knit tightly, try US size 6 / 4.0mm for the Main section. Once you’ve swatched your targeted gauge with the Main needle, go down one size for the Ribbing needle. As always, you’ll want to use whatever size needle gives you the correct gauge.
ADULT SIZE NEEDLES: If you knit loosely, try US size 7 / 4.5mm for the Main section; if you knit tightly, try US size 8 / 5.0mm for the Main section. Once you’ve swatched your targeted gauge with the Main needle, go down one size for the Ribbing needle. As always, you’ll want to use whatever size needle gives you the correct gauge.
