Baby Elephant Blanket Knitting Pattern PDF
The Baby Elephant Blanket has very clear, detailed instructions with many step-by-step photos. It is circularly knit using Fair Isle technique, a machine-sewn steek and machine-sewn fabric backing.
SIZE: Knitted portion = 27” / 69 cm wide by 28” / 71 cm long, not including steeks. Entire blanket, including fabric border = 33” / 84 cm wide by 34” / 86 cm long.
GAUGE: 25 stitches and 28 rows = 4” / 10cm in stranded stockinette stitch.
NEEDLES: If you knit loosely, try a 24” / 60cm long US #4 / 3.50mm needle. If you knit tightly, try a 24” / 60cm long US #5 / 3.75mm needle.
YARN: You’ll need six different colors of washable, sport weight yarn. Sample used Ella Rae Cashmereno Sport, 55% merino wool, 33% microfiber, 12% cashmere; 137 yds / 125 m per 1 ¾ oz / 50g. You’ll want a total of ten 50g balls, in the following colors:
Three 50g balls of A = #15 Veridian
One 50g ball of B = #30 Astilbe
Two 50g balls of C = #5 Quartz
Two 50g balls of D = #13 Ivory
One 50g ball of E = #9 Eucalyptus
One 50g balls of F = #14 Fern
Note: “Ella Rae Cashmereno Sport” yarn is the very same yarn as “Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino”, newly rebranded.
ERRATA:
Prior to January 31st, 2019, pattern was missing “K 2 rds in A.” on Page Two, in the second parragraph, fourth line, right after “…Work Little Chart #3. Work Flower Chart…” (You should always have 2 plain rounds in A before and after the Flower Chart.) The pattern has been updated to reflect this. If you purchased the pattern prior to 1/31/2019 and need an updated PDF, feel free to contact us.
