Baby's 1st Fair Isle Cardigan Knitting Pattern PDF
Baby’s 1st Fair Isle Cardigan is a circularly knit, steeked infant’s fingering weight cardigan with Fair Isle-style motifs and raglan shoulders. It is knit in four colors: one main color + three accent colors. The samples were knit in Dale Baby Ull yarn which is no longer available in North America; however, you can use countless fingering / baby / sock weight yarns - whatever strikes your fancy!
The pattern offers two silhouettes:
Bell-shaped (shown in mint): An extra-full, bell-shaped torso gets gathered just below the yoke.
Straight (shown in grey): A classic, straight-sided body.GAUGE: 32 sts and 40 rows = 4” / 10cm in solid-colored stockinette stitch.
NEEDLES: If you tend to knit loosely, try US#2 (2.75mm) & US#0 (2.00mm); if you tend to knit tightly, try US#2 1/2 (3.00mm) & US#1 (2.25mm).
ERRATA: The S2KP abbreviation was missing from the original Abbreviations section. It has been added to the pattern as of 2/25/19. To work an S2KP, slip 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch, pass both slipped stitches together over the stitch you just knit
