Rose Arbor Hat PDF

$6.00

Yarn pack available here.

This hat was inspired by the upcoming "Rose City Yarn Crawl" in Portland, OR where Jamieson's US distributor, Simply Shetland, will be donating several DK yarn packs for this design as door prizes, along with my donated patterns.

The Rose Arbor Hat is a close-fitting ladies' hat knit in 6 colors of DK yarn. The brim's twisted stitch trellis is capped by bands of Fair Isle roses and leaves that run to the top, forming a crowning blossom. Instructions for knitting an alternate, simple ribbed brim are included (although I think you'll find the chart and notes for the "trellis" to be friendly and fun.)

YARN:

Jamieson’s of Shetland Double Knitting (DK) 100% Shetland wool yarn, 82 yds / 75 m per 25g ball.

You’ll need two 25g balls of the main color (the blue in the brim), one 25g ball of each of the other five colors to make one hat. If you add in a 3rd ball of the main color, you’ll have enough of everything to make two hats. Click here to order our yarn pack.

NEEDLES:

For looser knitters: US #3 / 3.25mm for Trellis; US #2 1/2 / 3.00mm for Main Portion

For tighter knitters: US #4 / 3.50mm for Trellis; US #3 / 3.25mm for Main Portion

If you'd rather work standard ribbing, choose a ribbing needle that's one size smaller than your Main needle.

GAUGE: 29 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10cm in stranded stockinette stitch. This hat has been intentionally knit at a tighter-than-ballband gauge for an extra warm, sturdy hat with great stitch definition.
